I have for the past few years become increasingly frustrated by many things, maybe it's my age, but the more I look around and the more I see and hear I start to think about what could be better. I have been involved with politics now for about 2 years and the reason I got involved was because of my frustration with what is happening to our country and the wider world (rather than just sit around moaning I decided to get involved). I could sit here and write about how UKIP is different, and the difference we as a party are going to make, but I would then just start to sound like any other politician. The idea behind me starting a blog was to try and get things off my chest and try and put some facts down here, I have decided I will always try to be objective in all I say.
As there is an election coming up I thought I would mention it and again try to explain my reasons behind my decision to stand for parliament. I have mentioned some stuff in earlier posts about my political beliefs, and the one thing I have always wanted to do is tell people the truth. I have watched for the past 13 years this government waste billions of pounds of our money. I have sat and listened to sound bites and political spin and shouted at the TV in complete frustration. I have come to a realisation that so many of our elected representatives are more bothered about themselves than the people they are supposed to represent.
As you may have realised I am one for facts and statistics (so is Gordon Brown but I will tell you the truth). We are now in over £1.3 trillion worth of debt, a figure that up until recently many people would never have heard of. Politicians seem to treat us like babies, the facts are these, this country is in a perilous position, right now we are sitting on the edge of a cliff and are very nearly over the edge. Unfortunately none of our political leaders have the balls to tell us the truth about our situation and are even less willing to do something about it. We have a bloated public sector that employs about 8 million people, of which only 2 million are front line workers. Since 1997 the public sector has increased by about 1.6 million, there are now over 25,000 public sector workers earning £100,000 or more. This is ridiculous, how long can we continue like this? On top of this the government under Tony Blair started an IT project which has so far cost £12.7 billion, it is 4 years late, over budget and unpopular with those who have to use it, like doctors and consultants. The British Medical Association has so many concerns that it wants it suspended.
I could go on and on with example after example and probably push my blood pressure through the roof, but you see my point. I have highlighted two examples here and many more in my previous posts but it seems like no one really cares or is willing to listen. And it seems to me that it doesn't matter who gets into power, they will carry on their merry way with their heads stuck in the sand and continue to talk and not do anything. The main political parties and many political commentators seem to think that a hung parliament would be bad for this country, I disagree. We need a radical shake up in our political system, we need to see some independent MP's. We need to see some of the smaller parties get a few MP's, whether it be UKIP, Greens or dare I say it the BNP (let's be honest many people go on about the BNP, but they would have to get over 320 MP's to make government and this is not going to happen. I will give you my views on this party in a later post).
I have talked in previous posts about; waste, immigration and the EU. These are really massive issues but unfortunately for you and me nothing is going to change until we leave the hated EU. I will now state a TRUTH; until we leave the EU we will no longer have control over our destiny and, having no control over our destiny means there is very little we can do about about immigration and waste.
I would like everyone in this country to search out the truth, to read and research things for themselves but I can't see that happening, so let me recommend two books to you. The first is called 'Scared to Death' by Christopher Booker and Richard North, it will really challenge your thinking on many of the scares that have come out in recent years. The second is 'The real global warming disaster' and the author is Christoher Booker, if you want to start thinking differently start with these two books and you can't go wrong. Anyway, my intention is not to depress you but to try and get you to do something, so please do so and make a difference.
