We live in a country which over recent times has seen huge upheavals, I don't necessarily think it is all bad but I do think within our new enlightened age we need to start questioning whether so much of what is happening is good. So where do I start, Great Britain over the years has been a country which has always stood for liberty, freedom of belief, speech and thought, but I now believe that is no longer true. I believe and will continue to believe in freedom and democracy and this includes speaking out on issues which are sometimes unsavoury, I have quoted this before but I am going to use this quote again " I may disapprove of what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it" and I believe this is the essence of democracy and freedom.
Let me ask you a question; what would you do if someone disagreed with your point of view? Would you:
A. Sit down and discuss what they are saying, agreeing to disagree?
B. Get up and walk out and never talk to them again?
C. Contact the police and complain about what they are saying and have them arrested, or at least investigated?
Hopefully it won't be C, but unfortunately this situation is now here, we now live in a society in which real freedom to say what you want is gone. Over recent years we have had the odd case where people have been investigated for what they said. One such case was a lady who was investigated by the police for disagreeing with homosexual adoption, she was on a panel on Radio 5 discussing this issue and a member of the public made a complaint and she had a visit from the police. Now you could ask, did they arrest her and charge her? The answer to that would be no, so you could then say what is there to worry about then? I would say there is a lot to worry about, this I believe is a dangerous precedent when someone can be investigated for what they believe. Surely we should all be concerned about the next step, what if we were investigated for an innocuous comment? Does this not remind you of a time not that long ago in certain countries in Eastern Europe where people disappeared after making an innocent comment?
Ask yourself, this question, what can you say and what can you not say at work? I work for the fire service and like any government organisation we have equality and diversity officers who are there to make sure everyone tows the party line, this is hidden under the guise of anti-discrimination. Again lets go back just over 20 years to Soviet Russia, in every organisation there was a public servant employed called a 'Political Officer', the job of this political officer was to make sure everyone towed the party line, if anyone said anything outside of that they would at the very least be investigated. Sound familiar?
Over the years the government has introduced more and more anti-discrimination legislation and now we have the 'Equality Bill', this is probably the most dangerous piece of legislation ever produced. This Bill will enable anyone to label almost anything as offensive especially if it goes against the politically correct doctrine this government has created. As a Christian this legislation could have a huge affect on my ability to state what I believe as a Christian. (Just a little aside, the Equality Bill will add costs of £310 million to business. This is because, when businesses tender for government contracts they will be forced to have an Equality Audit to check whether or not they have the right diverse mix of employees. If for instance a company does not have enough women employees or ethnic minorities they will not get the contract) The government will defend this by saying they are making this society more and more tolerant, and we now live in a more tolerant society because of this legislation. Do you really think that is true? Just ask yourself this question; does one piece of anti-discrimination legislation supersede another piece of anti-discrimination legislation? A Christian says they will not officiate at a homosexual civil ceremony because their Christian beliefs disagree with it, surely they have the right to disagree and if they don't have a right to disagree surely this makes a mockery of anti-discrimination legislation?
This is a massive subject but I believe it is a very important subject and we need people who are going to stand up to the onward march of political correctness. We could all continue living our nice comfortable lives, but what if that changed. Imagine going to church and not being able to talk about your beliefs for fear of arrest. You may say that will never happen, but don't be too sure about that. Imagine being at work and having a private conversation and someone overhearing it and making a complaint and then getting the sack, I am afraid this is already happening.
We all know what extremism is, the Nazis are a good example of that. What if someone said your views, which are perfectly legitimate and reasonable, are extreme just because you disagree with them, and then they made a complaint about you, wouldn't that concern you? If you believe marriage should be defined as being between a man and a woman only, you risk being criminalised because some will say it is offensive. We live in a society which needs to question certain issues, you may question the politics of race but that does not mean you are racist. You may question certain issues to do with equality but that does not mean you don't believe people should be treated equally. You may believe that western civilisation, capitalism and its ability to create wealth and culture, while promoting freedom, equality and democracy is the best society that has ever been created but that does not make you an Islamaphobe.
There are now towns in our country in which Sharia Law is allowed to be practised, ironically this religious belief system is probably one of the most intolerant parts of any religion anywhere in the world. I believe the agenda of political correctness and anti-disrimination law has nothing to do with equality but about enforcing a particular view point. We are now living in a topsy-turvy world in which discrimination is allowed in the form of 'positive discrimination', this is when those who are seen as under represented are given priority over other groups (usually white men). We are now seeing the myth propagated that women are paid less than men, this is no longer true! We are being told that women are still not making it into top positions, but maybe that is a career choice and has absolutely nothing to do with discrimination. Let us take a step back and start to replace the political correct way of thinking. We need tolerance, we need equality, we need freedom and we need to emphasise 'factual correctness' and not 'political correctness' or we will see the destruction of our society and all that is good about it.

THE TRUTH
I have always been interested in facts, even from an early age I would spend time thumbing through an encyclopedia, old newspapers and books just to learn something interesting (or at least I found it interesting). One of my sad party tricks is knowing practically every capital of every country in the world. I didn't just learn them to show off my knowledge (or how sad I am)but I did it because I genuinely found it interesting. As I got older I found I didn't just want to know facts and figures but I also wanted to find the truth. I know some people will ask what is the truth? And some people say there can be more than one truth but that's a different argument for another day. What I am talking about are facts about what really happened at certain events, what are the reasons why someone did what they did and the truth behind the stories we hear on the news and read in newspapers. Generally, if you read something in a newspaper, depending on that newspaper's political bias they will print a story a certain way. For instance The Daily Mirror is left leaning and will paint Gordon Brown in a good light and make him out to almost be a saint and The Daily Mail will paint him as almost the Devil incarnate. So who is telling the truth? I think for most people it is very difficult to find out what the truth is because they don't have the time or inclination so they make up their mind based upon what they read, hear or see in the media.
I have for a number of years had this saying in my head "most people judge by what they think rather than what they know". I believe this to be true, we can look at someone and make a judgement, we can read something and make an opinion which is quite a natural thing to do. In the run up to this general election many parties will make many claims and rubbish their opponents policies, so for many people it is hard to know which one to vote for. I believe there has to be a change, I am not going to say "vote for UKIP" but I would ask that you be opened minded and don't believe everything you read or hear.
I am going to touch on a few subjects quickly here and in later postings I will go into greater detail about each of these subjects. I want you to ask yourself what you believe to be true about these subjects and if you have any time, go and research them and see what you find out. I will also give you some websites and book titles which will guide you on your journey to finding THE TRUTH. I will list them here and I want you to ask yourself what your initial reaction is, and what the orthodox view about these subjects are. Let me say this, I am not a conspiracy theorist, just someone who wants to know the truth.
1. Global warming; I have touched on this one before and I can tell you I have only scraped the top of the proverbial iceberg in my previous post. The more you delve into this particular subject the more you will find that so many of the so called experts are not that expert after all.
2. Asbestos; unbeknown to most people there are 3 different types of asbestos; brown, blue and white. Brown and blue are the dangerous ones and are made up of small metal fibres, white asbestos is a cement type material and makes up about ninety per cent of all so called asbestos, there is no clinical proof that this is dangerous.
3. Speed kills; (that's not the drug but driving too fast) only 7 per cent of deaths on our roads are caused by people speeding (Home Office figures). Why are we being told different? Maybe it has something to do with speed cameras and making money (call me cynical).
4. Terrorists; according to the government we are going to be attacked at any moment, maybe this has more to do with the governments agenda to bring in I.D cards and a DNA database and controlling the population by fear than genuine terrorism.
5. Saturated fat; is it really as dangerous as the government tells us, firstly there is no clinical evidence that saturated fat can cause heart disease, and secondly the Inuits in Northern Canada and Greenland have a diet which is practically totally full of saturated fat but they have no record of heart disease.
6. Passive smoking; is it really dangerous? What is the evidence about environmental tobacco smoke? In May 2003 the findings were made public of the longest most comprehensive scientific study ever carried out into the effects of passive smoking anywhere in the world. This project was launched 40 years previously by the American Cancer Society based on a study of 118,094 adults, including 35,000 couples of which only one partner was a smoker. The central findings of the study found no casual relation between environmental tobacco smoke and tobacco-related mortality. Ever heard anything about this study? No, I didn't think so, why didn't this study make world wide headlines?
7. The EU; is it really a fantastic organisation and beneficial to this nation? Ask yourself this question, this organisation controls practically every part of our lives but you hardly ever hear anything about it on the news. WHY IS THAT?
There you have 7 subjects to be going on with. You will continue to hear stories and be forced fed many things in your life, wouldn't it be nice to know what the truth is and not the propaganda? If you have the time and want to find the truth, start with these books and websites:
The Global warming disaster by Christoher Booker
Scared to Death by Christopher Booker and Richard North
Big Fat Lies (is your government making you fat) by Hannah Sutter
The Great Deception by Christopher Booker and Richard North

We live in a society that is growing more and more cynical, which I totally understand. We have politicans which very few people trust and I find that to be very sad. As someone who is taking his first steps into politics I want people to trust me, unfortunately I know that it is likely that so many people will view me as the same as everyone else. My hope is that I can change peoples view of politics and politicians but I do feel this will take years and will need a total change of government. I know that seems idealistic but I am going to give it a go and you never know what will happen in the future.

The BNP
The BNP are probably the most controversial party in mainstream politics today, and I fully understand why this is, let's be honest they are mostly an odious bunch who hold views which many people in this country disagree with. Agree with them or not, because they are a legal and legitimate party they have the right to be involved in our political debates. Voltaire said "I may hate what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it" and I truly believe this. We live in a democracy and unlike so many other countries in the world this means freedom of speech, expression and thought and long may that continue.
So, lets deal with the BNP head on and let us take a look at their history and beliefs. To look at the BNP we have to look at their origins and with this in mind we need to look at The National Front. The National Front were an openly racist group which made no secret of their racist credentials, they gained prominence during the seventies and early eighties but unlike the BNP they didn't manage to break into mainstream politics. The BNP under it's leader Nick Griffin has managed to do this and they have gained a number of council seats and 2 MEP's. They are now fighting a number of seats in this forthcoming General Election and they may well gain some seats.
The question has to be asked, how did this situation come about? The simple answer to that question is, New Labour. If we look at The National Front and the BNP you will find no difference in their core beliefs and if you look at the late seventies and today you will find a lot of parallels; we have high unemployment, we have racial tension, we have industrial unrest, we have a struggling economy and we have a Labour Government. So why have the BNP gained so much prominence today and The National Front didn't? I believe this has to do with Labour's obsession with, 'Multiculturalism', allowing mass immigration, low wages, and the loss of a lot of our industrial base and squandering billions of pounds.
Labour's core followers were predominantly the working class and over the last 13 years Labour has chosen to ignore this group and follow a different path. They have become obsessed with image over substance and have decided to adopt the policy of multiculturalism which has isolated so many white working class families. Under Labour we have seen an unprecedented rise in immigration, why is it different now than previous decades? In the 1950'we had an influx of many immigrants from the West Indies and the Indian Sub Continent but we didn't see the rise of a Nationalist movement, now we do. I don't believe there is one simple answer to this question and it would take more time than I have to go in to detail about the answer to our problems, but I will highlight what I think and then you can expand on them yourselves. Firstly, we are now living in an over populated island (I have covered this issue in a previous post, so if you want to see what I think on this issue please look at my post on immigration). Secondly, I believe politicians have become more remote from the people they are supposed to represent. Thirdly, Labours obsession with Multiculturalism has isolated the white population, and for so many they feel they don't have a voice so they then turn to those they feel are listening to their concerns. Fourthly, cheap labour, we have seen the rise of jobs which now pay the minimum wage, it has been a boom time for many employers and big companies who have been able to employ many immigrants at very low wages and got away with it. A report released at the beginning of April this year has shown nearly every job that Labour has created 98.5 percent of 1.67 million has gone to migrants. For many local people it is not a case that they don't want to work they cannot afford to do the work, so stay on benefits. Fifthly, we now have a lot of pressure on our local resources (schools, hospitals, doctors surgeries, housing, etc) and this causes a lot of resentment amongst the local population. This has been highlighted by 2 Peterborough councillors who sent a letter to the 3 main parties telling them the problems in their local area; problems in schools which have as many as 27 different languages spoken in them, doctors surgeries in which people cannot get an appointment, an increase in crime, a problem with housing and so on. The councillors sent a letter in January this year to the 3 main party leaders but they did not get a reply.
I could go on and on but I am going to say this, the policy of mass immigration has brought huge underlying problems to this country and was a policy which New Labour decided to follow, as has been highlighted in my previous post. The Government has talked about tolerance and brought out more legislation and laws outlawing discrimination. Ironically this has probably created a society which is growing less tolerant, we have seen the rise of the BNP and I can only put this at the door of New Labour. I believe there has to be a change and maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing if we did see the BNP get a few MP's, maybe this would make our politicians sit up and listen to the people who feel like they have no voice.
Let me say this in finishing, as I have said at the top of this post the BNP are odious. I feel angry that this government has let this cretinous party grow. If anyone thinks that the BNP would be good for this country take a look at history, 1939-1945 over 57 million deaths, 11 million in concentration camps, 6.5 million Jews, 1.5 million children gassed. We do not want to turn back the clock, but unless the people of this country are listened to and something is done about mass immigration (not immigration and genuine asylum seekers)we will see the continued rise of the far right.

FRUSTRATION!!!
I have for the past few years become increasingly frustrated by many things, maybe it's my age, but the more I look around and the more I see and hear I start to think about what could be better. I have been involved with politics now for about 2 years and the reason I got involved was because of my frustration with what is happening to our country and the wider world (rather than just sit around moaning I decided to get involved). I could sit here and write about how UKIP is different, and the difference we as a party are going to make, but I would then just start to sound like any other politician. The idea behind me starting a blog was to try and get things off my chest and try and put some facts down here, I have decided I will always try to be objective in all I say.
As there is an election coming up I thought I would mention it and again try to explain my reasons behind my decision to stand for parliament. I have mentioned some stuff in earlier posts about my political beliefs, and the one thing I have always wanted to do is tell people the truth. I have watched for the past 13 years this government waste billions of pounds of our money. I have sat and listened to sound bites and political spin and shouted at the TV in complete frustration. I have come to a realisation that so many of our elected representatives are more bothered about themselves than the people they are supposed to represent.
As you may have realised I am one for facts and statistics (so is Gordon Brown but I will tell you the truth). We are now in over £1.3 trillion worth of debt, a figure that up until recently many people would never have heard of. Politicians seem to treat us like babies, the facts are these, this country is in a perilous position, right now we are sitting on the edge of a cliff and are very nearly over the edge. Unfortunately none of our political leaders have the balls to tell us the truth about our situation and are even less willing to do something about it. We have a bloated public sector that employs about 8 million people, of which only 2 million are front line workers. Since 1997 the public sector has increased by about 1.6 million, there are now over 25,000 public sector workers earning £100,000 or more. This is ridiculous, how long can we continue like this? On top of this the government under Tony Blair started an IT project which has so far cost £12.7 billion, it is 4 years late, over budget and unpopular with those who have to use it, like doctors and consultants. The British Medical Association has so many concerns that it wants it suspended.
I could go on and on with example after example and probably push my blood pressure through the roof, but you see my point. I have highlighted two examples here and many more in my previous posts but it seems like no one really cares or is willing to listen. And it seems to me that it doesn't matter who gets into power, they will carry on their merry way with their heads stuck in the sand and continue to talk and not do anything. The main political parties and many political commentators seem to think that a hung parliament would be bad for this country, I disagree. We need a radical shake up in our political system, we need to see some independent MP's. We need to see some of the smaller parties get a few MP's, whether it be UKIP, Greens or dare I say it the BNP (let's be honest many people go on about the BNP, but they would have to get over 320 MP's to make government and this is not going to happen. I will give you my views on this party in a later post).
I have talked in previous posts about; waste, immigration and the EU. These are really massive issues but unfortunately for you and me nothing is going to change until we leave the hated EU. I will now state a TRUTH; until we leave the EU we will no longer have control over our destiny and, having no control over our destiny means there is very little we can do about about immigration and waste.
I would like everyone in this country to search out the truth, to read and research things for themselves but I can't see that happening, so let me recommend two books to you. The first is called 'Scared to Death' by Christopher Booker and Richard North, it will really challenge your thinking on many of the scares that have come out in recent years. The second is 'The real global warming disaster' and the author is Christoher Booker, if you want to start thinking differently start with these two books and you can't go wrong. Anyway, my intention is not to depress you but to try and get you to do something, so please do so and make a difference.
